Construction Allowed Again At New Goldman Sachs BuildingJun 03, 2008
Construction work on the interior of the lower 13 floors of Goldman Sachs’s new 43-story headquarters in Downtown Manhattan can continue this week.
Last month, construction was put on hold after a piece of sheet metal fell onto a ball field during a Little League game.
Developer Tishman Speyer has since taken additional safety measures at the lower Manhattan site, including full-floor netting and protocol for working in windy conditions.
There will also be no construction during the rest of the Little League season.
No one was injured in the accident, but it was the second major incident at the site.
An architect was nearly killed in December when a crane dropped 14,000 lbs. of steel onto the trailer he was in.
Goldman Sachs says it is working with Tishman to make sure they follow the new safety measures.
